In H.; a spicule with six unbranched rays/triactinal symmetry, perpendicular to one another (e.g., Hyalonema [Hyalonema] proximum); building block of dictyonal framework in Hexactinosida; in h. microscleres, it can be, for example, oxy‐, discohexactine; compare with hexaster.
