Definition

In D., a microsclere with spines along the straight shaft (e.g., Disyringa dissimilis); the spines may be or may not be spirally arranged; in freshwater sponges there are sanidasters gemmuloscleres (e.g., Corvoheteromeyenia sanidosclera); s. can be verticillate.
